Impact of supportive text messages on Subjective Mental Wellbeing and User Satisfaction

 

Subscribers of Text4Mood, felt daily supportive messages made them more hopeful about managing issues in their lives (82 %, n = 588), feeling in charge of managing depression and anxiety (77 %, n = 552), coping with stress (77 %, n = 552) and feeling connected to a support system (75 %, n = 542). The majority of subscribers felt Text4Mood improved their overall mental well-being (83 %, n = 598) and made them feel like they could bounce back if they made a mistake (77 %, n = 554). Furthermore, most subscribers felt the daily messages were positive (98%), supportive (95%), on topic (88.5%) and to the point (87%).


83% of patients with depression and alcohol use disorder who received daily supportive text messages reported that the intervention had played a useful role in helping to improve their mental health, in particular, in serving as a motivation for recovery and in preventing relapse.


81% Text4Hope subscribers reported they felt connected to a support system through receiving the daily messages, 75.6% of subscribers indicated the daily messages helped to improve their mental wellbeing, and 60.0% of respondents indicated that the daily messages helped to enhance their quality of life.
